Musoma Rural Constituency in Mara region has embarked on a silent campaign to fulfil its noble goal of producing more experts in the fields of science, technology and innovation in the changed global educational setup.

This is the vision of the area Member of Parliament, Prof Sospeter Muhongo, who says there is a huge global demand of scientists, technologists and innovators as far as scientific knowledge is concerned.

“The major foundation of having such experts should begin with the teaching of science subjects right from nursery schools to high schools (Form VI level) respectively,” Prof Muhongo said in a statement released in Musoma yesterday regarding the ambitious project.

Musoma Rural, which boasts of various development projects to better the lives of villagers, has now launched a drive to push for the building of at least three laboratories in each high school to boost the teaching of such subjects --  physics, chemistry and biology.

The aim of this initiative is to produce more experts  to meet the challenges posed by the many rapid scientific advances in this digital era, Prof Muhongo underscores.

“Every secondary (government-owned or private) must have three laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology to equip students with scientific knowledge, he explains.

It’s the wish of many leaders in Musoma rural to see the increase of the number of high schools teaching science subjects in order to churn out more scientists needed in every sector of the national economy.

The constituency has three high schools teaching subject combinations such as History, Kiswahili and Literature (HKL), History, Geography and Kiswahili (HGK) at Kasoma Secondary School.

Two other schools – Suguti and Mugango – have subject combinations in Physics, Chemist and Biology (PCB), Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), Chemistry Bilogy and Geography (CBG), and Engolish Geography and Mathematics (EGM).

Musoma rural residents believe the transformation of the education has become a key agenda in the preparation of their children’s future lives
