A Tanzania female, Ms Martha Baare has been appointed the first Tanzanian Managing Director of Grumeti Reserves Limited, an eco-tourism company that operates several world-class luxurious lodges at Western Serengeti in Mara region.
Ms Baare has taken over from Frank Law, who has successfully led the company into its present glory.
Before her new appointment, Ms Baare was the head of the directorate of Human Resources and Government Relations at Grumeti Reserves Limited, according to the company’s latest statement released yesterday.
Grumeti Reserves has created hundreds of jobs for the locals and also supports community development activities in Western Serengeti.
Previously the company was under the leadership of Graham Ledger who oversaw tremendous growth with its hotels winning global reputation.
Besides heavy investment in tourism, Grumeti Reserves is seen as one of the key development partners supporting community development projects in villages found near the Ikorongo-Grumeti Game Reserves and Ikona Wildlife Management Area (WMA).
